This sermon series was originally preached during the Christmas season. But it covers the truth of God’s presence, which is a truth that is for all times! Throughout the Scriptures, there are different themes and metaphors that the biblical authors use for good times, bad times, and even times of wandering. And yet, through all of these seasons and callings in life, one thing is true—God’s presence is with His people. That is the truth that we trace through the Scriptures in this sermon series!

God is With Us in the Wilderness

The theme and metaphor of being in the wilderness speaks to seasons of life where we feel lost, alone, and floundering. And yet, even in these moments, God is with us. We can hold onto His promises. We can trust in His provision. And we can rest in His presence.

God is With Us in the Suffering

When we follow the theme of suffering throughout Scripture, we find that suffering is inevitable. And yet, for children of God, we can be assured that, in our suffering, God is with us and working on us!

God is With Us in the Mission

There is a pattern of God throughout Scripture to reassure His people of His presence and power when He comissions them to do something. As we live on mission, working to accomplish the Great Commission, God is both with us and for us.

God is With Us on this Earth

The truth of the Incarnation, God in the flesh, coming down to show us His love is an amazing truth. But the idea of God meeting mankind on earth was not new when Jesus was born. The theme of the Temple throughout the Scriptures, teaches us how God has met with man on earth. It’s a theme that Jesus uses to teach about Himself And the apostles end up applying it to all of us who are followers of Christ.

We hope that this series on the presence of God in the world was both encouraging and challenging!
