This sermon series goes section by section through the book of Titus. A common theme throughout the book is the idea of God’s grace, and how that actually motivates us to live godly amid the world and generation in which we live. Each message points to how Paul was teaching that Christians should be “Grace-Driven.”

Titus 1:1-5 — Intro to Titus

In this message, we look at the context around this letter to Titus, and the purpose Paul had for writing it. We learn who Paul is, who Titus is, and what Titus’ ministry entailed. Through it, we are challenged to be faithful and dependable, and to be encouraged by the fact that we are not alone, that we have confidence in God’s promises, and that the there is still work to be done!

Titus 1:5-9 — Grace-Driven Leaders

In this passage, we see Paul telling Titus the qualities that should be evident in the men that he would appoint to leadership in the churches on the island of Crete. And though the passage is specifically directed toward pastoral leadership, we learn that each and every one of us can be leaders who lead because of grace, by grace, and with grace, as we display God’s grace in the way that we live.

Titus 1:10-16 — Guardians of Grace

In this message, we are challenged to guard both the doctrine of grace and a culture of grace against those that try to teach contrary to either. Paul tells Titus that this is something that should not be taken lightly. If it is tolerated, it will infect the church and subvert whole households. We must endeavor to live a life of grace in order to defend the doctrine of grace and contend for a culture of grace.

Titus 2:1-10 — Making Grace Look Good

In this passage, we see Paul giving Titus instructions on teaching every generation in the church to live in a way that makes the gospel of grace even more beautiful! How can we live in a way that “adorns the doctrine of God are Savior in all things”?

Titus 2:11-15 — Grace, Our Teacher

As he continues writing, Paul tells Titus that the reason he should be teaching the people how to live is because the grace of God teaches believers to live this way. Grace is our teacher! Which means the more that we allow ourselves to encounter and meditate on the grace of God, the more we will find ourselves motivated and empowered to live soberly, righteously, and godly.

Titus 3:1-8 — Governed by Grace

In this passage, Paul tells Titus to remind believers that if we maintain lives that are governed by grace, we will have an effect on society around us. How does that look? It looks like compliance and kindness. Why? Because of what took place in our lives through the gospel, as a result of Jesus’ compliance and kindness!

Titus 3:9-15 — Grace Be With You

Paul closes out his letter to Titus by telling him that there are some things that he needs to avoid in order to be careful to maintain good works. There are distractions that will come and cause us to drift from the course we to follow, unless we safeguard ourselves from them. Then Paul prays that the grace of God would be with Titus, so that he might be able to accomplish all that has been tasked with him in this letter.

We pray that this series through the book of Titus has been helpful to you in understanding the grace of God, and has challenged you to live godly in this present age!
